Riley Elementary School, etc.) in monetary and in-kind donations. It is our goal to be a driving force to make Tallahassee and its surrounding areas a better place to live, work, play and excel academically, socially and professionally.
How has art shaped your life?
Art has always been a guidepost in my existence from the time I was three years old. I inherited my gift from my mom and continually worked on my craft throughout public school and higher education. It influenced my style, my philosophy of life and my ability to resonate with other creative forces.
What do you tell your students when they are struggling?
I try to get them to focus on their strengths and hone what they believe to be important to them and their identity as an artist and a person.
Who or what was the most profound influence on your work/art?
I have had several instructors / professors with a profound influences throughout my development as an artist. From the High School of Art & Design in New York City; to Florida A&M University; to Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. In addition, my parents influenced my desire to convey messages, identify beauty and be purposeful in my attempt to create artwork.
Tell us one thing most people don’t know about you?
One thing that most people may not know about me is that as a young child I was able to travel internationally with my parents annually from age 5 until the age of 16.
