Big Bend Cares relies on the selfless effort and dedication of volunteers to ensure the success of its programs. We want you to know that your generosity and donation of time does not go unnoticed and is very much appreciated. Below you will find a list of our volunteer opportunities. Ways to get involved:

  1. Front Desk Volunteers
    Front Desk Volunteers are responsible for greeting visitors, assisting with in-office food bag distribution, and performing clerical tasks. Position requirements: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, attend volunteer orientation, and a commitment to the same shift each week (for a minimum of one semester). Shifts are Monday-Friday, 8:00-12:30 and 12:30-5:00.
  2. Food Bag Stuffing
    Each month, we offer the opportunity for groups and individuals to stuff food bags with non-perishable food items for our clients. Below you will find a list of dates we need volunteers (all shifts are during business hours- Monday-Friday from 8:00-5:00). Position requirements: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.   1. Tallahassee AIDS Walk | March 5, 2020 | Railroad Square
    Tallahassee AIDS Walk is celebrating its 30 th anniversary this year! We are seeking volunteers to help with set up, during the event, and clean up. Position requirements: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. This opportunity is open to individuals and groups.
  2. Artopia | June 26, 2021 | Donald L. Tucker Civic Center
    Artopia is our biggest annual fundraiser! It consists of both a silent and live art auction which showcase works by local and regional artists. Volunteers are needed to help with art transport, set up, during the event, and clean up. Position requirements: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. This opportunity is open to individuals and groups.
  3. Holiday Angels | December
    Every year Big Bend Cares provides gifts for over 300 children! Volunteers are needed to sponsor families or assist Big Bend Cares with shopping for unsponsored children on December 14, 2019. To learn more about this program, visit the Holiday Angels page. Position requirements: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. This opportunity is open to individuals and groups.
  4. Client Holiday Dinners
    November 19, 2020 | Good Samaritan United Methodist Church
    December 3, 2020 | Trinity United Methodist Church
    We host two annual dinners for our clients. Volunteers are needed to assist with set up, serving, preparing side dishes, and clean up. Position requirements: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. This opportunity is open to individuals and groups.
  5. Alternative Christmas Market | December 2020 | John Wesley United Methodist Church
    At this event, volunteers help represent Big Bend Cares by utilizing our mission to encourage community members to support our organization during the holidays. Shifts are 12/7 from 9:00-12:30, 12/7 from 12:30-4, and 12/8 from 1-4. Position requirements: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. This opportunity is open to individuals and groups.
