When did your journey into art begin?
One of my earliest memories was getting in trouble for trying to draw bees all over the inside of a book about pirates. I think I would have been around 3 at the time.
Who is someone local that has given you great advice?
I saw a rather upset wino being ejected from an art show for being a little too belligerent. I heard him mumble, “Nobody’s perfect. Nobody’s perfect. Nobody’s perfect.” I see it as a reminder not too take things too seriously.
If you could paint an album cover… Which album and which band?
“Elvis Presley Live at Madison Square Garden.” The King at his most glorious.
What is your favorite color?
Negative Blue
What excites you about the current state of the arts here in Tallahassee?
Tallahassee’s greatest resource are all the ridiculous characters who live here. This town is overflowing with hilarious, kind, and strange people. That’s what makes it such a great place to create. You can’t throw a rock in this town without hitting a musician, photographer, a painter or somebody excited to help nurture a cool idea. There is a casual but zany beauty to this place that attracts these type of folks. Florida may be an international laughing stock, but its special, and we should be proud to represent the capitol city.
